Home Learning

Phonics is so important for learning to read and write. Practising little and often is the key to improvement for children.

Each day the Ruth Miskin channel on Youtube releases a phonics session for each set of sounds the children in Reception and KS1 learn.

Why not log on and practise with you child?

Phonics at Home!

Phonics at Home! 1 Reception children learn these and Set 2 sounds
Phonics at Home! 2 Year 1 and 2 children learn these sounds.

Home Learning

Home learning is an important link between our school and home to support, progress and embed the children’s learning.

We value parental engagement and the importance of continuing learning at home. As a partnership we can help our children to flourish and learn the skills and knowledge to achieve anything they desire to!

Nursery

  • A half termly topic knowledge organiser is sent home on the first week of a topic
  • A half termly home learning grid of activities is shared on the first week of the topic. These will include activities for parents and children to choose to complete at home once a week
  • On a Monday, children will have time in class to share and celebrate their home learning they have done the previous week. These are then shared in the children’s learning journeys
  • Picture books and songs are sent home weekly, children have the option to change these daily if they wish to
  • When children are beginning to blend sounds to read words they will take home a Read Write Inc blending book and reading diary. We recommend reading these with your child for at least 5 minutes daily.
