At Swaffham CE VC Infant and Nursery School we encourage all kinds of learning at home both indoors and out. We thrive to extend children's learning out of the classroom and continue their passion for learning.
In Reception, Home Learning is sent home at the start of every half term and is closely linked to the Topic that the children are learning. Home Learning is then returned on the last week of the half term for the children to share and talk about. The children are asked to choose at least 4 of the 6 activities and complete them in the most fun and exciting way possible. Amazing Home Learning is also celebrated and displayed in the classrooms for everyone to see!
In KS1, Home Learning is sent home weekly on a Friday and returned to school on a Wednesday for the children to share in class. Home Learning is used as a way for children to continue their learning at home and explore the wonderful things they have been learning at school in greater depth.
Each Home Learning page lets those at home know what we have been learning during that week in English, Maths and Topic, whilst also including ideas of ways to continue learning at home. There is also a 'Big Question' that explores a topic further and allows our children to think 'out of the box' and be really creative.
As well as Home Learning we also encourage reading at home and send reading books home regularly for children to share with adults or friends at home.
